Caledon Community Complex: A Look Inside
The Caledon Community Complex is a hive of activity, with something for everyone. There are two ice rinks, a gym, an auditorium and meeting rooms. The complex hosts hockey tournaments, figure skating competitions and other events. It’s also home to the Caledon Figure Skating Club and the Caledon Hockey Association.
The complex is popular with seniors too. There’s a large hall that can be used for dances, meetings and other activities. The kitchen is well-equipped and there’s plenty of parking available.
The groundbreaking for an expansion to the Caledon East Community Complex took place on Tuesday, September 7th, 2021. This project will see two new buildings with room enough for more community events and activities as well as office space added onto one of their existing structures.
The expansion will include a 52,000 square-foot multi-level structure that includes a pool and fitness centre with cardio weight space as well as a gymnasium. There is also a walking track aerobics studio warm viewing area for existing ice rinks public library multipurpose rooms available to the community at large through programming or rentals which can be used by residents on-site if they don’t have one themselves!
The landmark Caledon East Community Centre has been a hub for community events and programming since its construction in 1978. The building consists of two arenas, with an official sized hockey rink on the east side that was built separately 2007-2010 as well various multipurpose rooms available for rentals or programs run by local organizations such as schools/unions nearby residents’ associations.
Construction of the expansion is expected to be completed in the winter of 2023.
