Real estate agents Melancthon: Melancthon is a rural township in the northwest corner of Dufferin County that is home to just over 3000 residents. With one of the lowest population levels in the area, an individual would expect to find a number of different types of farms in this rural area. While the township’s main industry comes from sheep, dairy, potato and beef farming, examples of the modern world are easy to spot, particularly if an individual happens despite the wind farm in the area. Melancthon offers farmers, especially potato farmers, some of the country’s most fertile land. The flat soil and sandy loam make the region’s potato farming a major industry. A proposal for a large gravel extraction site at Melancthon was made years ago, but the residents and neighbouring locals rallied together to shut down the pit. Back to jenjewell.ca.
Melancthon consists primarily of extensive farmland and picturesque rural areas. You can expect to truly live the rural life in Melancthon as being one of the least densely populated areas in Ontario. This could be the best place to start if you’re looking for a small farm. Gorgeous homes and private properties of the century are also on offer here. Melancthon is not part of the greenbelt, but its agricultural sector is an essential component of the farming industry in Ontario. In Melancthon, people have seen a number of new build listings going up, but these newly built homes are being placed on 1-acre lots to preserve the feeling of a country lifestyle.
This is a choice endured by many people, and the decision is not as easy to make as it may sound. As a property owner, as your mortgage is paid down, you can reasonably expect the equity in your estate to increase over time. That can be a quick and rewarding way to increase your net worth, combined with a regular appreciation of property values. On the other hand, the individual who pays rent over the same amount of time is left without investment in property, but may have enjoyed lower living expenses and the opportunity to invest in other possible options. You have to count up all the figures when comparing ownership to renting, including the cost of your assets, the size of your down payment, utilities, immediate repairs, interest rates and insurance, and compare them to how much you currently spend on rent.
Melancthon, Ontario is a small community based within Dufferin County. Located in the northwest corner of the county, it has approximately 31,264 hectares of land and a road network of approximately 400 kilometers. It is a small location that is community-focused, and is firmly dedicated to farming.
While the township was founded back in 1853 on January 1st as a part of Grey County, it later transferred to Dufferin County, becoming incorporated there in 1881, and Arterial Roads are County Road 124, Highway 10 and Highway 89. The Township has one of the lowest population densities in southwestern Ontario, but is still community-focused, and is devoted to agriculture. Small in stature, Melancthon’s post office was established in 1851 with the first postmaster named James Beachall. Unfortunately, the post office closed in 1971.
Within the Township there are three Hamlets: Horning’s Mills, Corbetton and Riverview, and also has nearby communities such as Auguston, Masonville, Mayburne, Melancthon, Ostrander, Redickville, Shrigley, and Wrigglesworth Corner.
The main occupation in the Township is farming and is focused on the development of agriculture in its many forms. As well as beef, dairy, and sheep, growing and marketing of potatoes is one of the most prominent industries, as well as several On-Farm Businesses various manufacturing shops.
The Township council currently comprises Mayor Darren White, a deputy mayor David Besley, and two councilors (Wayne Hannon and Margaret Mercer) who focus on bringing a community spirit to its 3,275 residents, and is determined to keep sustainability at the heart of its actions. With environmental sustainability meetings and a focus on agriculture, Melancthon is a place that is quiet, quaint, and brings a simple and effective approach to everything it does. As part of Dufferin County, it brings rural living to the forefront. With total crime being 56% lower than Ontario and quiet country living making it the ideal location for older residents, Melancthon is a beautiful town that comes with a low population density but manages to make everyone feel at home. Beautiful and simple, Melancthon is a place for all walks of life to congregate.
