    Beeton was first settled in 1822 by Johnsons and Davises, who were soon joined by others from York County. In 1851, the village was named after architect James Beeton, who designed several prominent buildings in Toronto. The Beeton post office was established in 1856.

    Economically, Beeton was largely sustained by agriculture until the arrival of the Toronto Suburban Railway in 1908. The railway spurred industrial and commercial growth in the town, which later became known for its many successful dairy farms.
