  • History of Cedar Mills Ontario

The community was established in the 1800s and had its own saw mills that were powered by steam engines or water turbines to cut lumber for construction and firewood use. The village was originally known as Cedar Valley before changing its name to Central Milton in 1845 – until finally settling on Cedar Mill in 1913 due to postal confusion with another town by the same name south of Toronto. There are still remnants of the old mill buildings near what used to be called Mill Pond at Cedar Creek just off Regional Road 50 south-east of Bolton. They have been transformed into homes with beautiful gardens along their frontage on Highway 50 where there once stood tall trees providing shade from the sun’s rays all day during warmer months giving lovely natural look than can be achieved today although it may cost more money though homeowners would not get this type of natural beauty. There is a small picnic grove and playground, which has been renovated in recent years.
